Haydee,
I have really enjoyed our studies but it is still hard for me to understand that Jesus is not God, especially knowing all the mirales he performed. Wouldn't that prove that he is God?
I know this has been hard for you and since your brough it up last week I though maybe instead of our regular study we can address your concern. In order to do this, let's go directly to the bible.
So again this scrip refers to Jesus as being the son of God
So in examining these scriptures it is very clear that Jesus is Gods son
Because in the scriptures we just considered we read that not only did Jesus refer to God his father but it also shows that God was with Jesus and the scriptures refer to Jesus as the son of God
So you see in that later part of verse 17, Jesus said "but my father in the heavens did". So he referred to his father.
you know hh pre-christian prophets such as Elijah and Elisha performed mirales similar to those of Jesus. Yet that certainly is no proof that they were God.
I never really thought of in that way, but that makes so much sense. You know I really need to share these scriptures with my mother because all these years we have been taught that Jesus is God.
I'm sure your mother would really enjoy those scriptures. And along with those scriptures we just read, I would like to share with you one more scrip and that is at John 20:30,31 and notice how Jesus is referred to as the Son of God
The 1st scrip that comes to mind is in Acts 10:34,38 and as we read this scrip pay attention to the later part of verse 38.
So we see in verse 38 that God anointed him (Jesus) with holy spirit & power and it says "God was with him"
So we see here that Peter did not conclude that because Jesus performed miracles that he was God but rather as he stated in verse 38 that God was with Jesus.
Also Jesus referred to his father many times in the scriptures and Matt 16:16,17 gives evidence of this. Lets take a look at that scripture and notice how Jesus mentions his father
