1. Record 12 Lead or 3 lead prior to Mx
2. Position pt supine
3. Pt to blow on 10 mL syringe with enough pressure to move plunger
4. For at least 15 s if tolerate
5. Repeat x 2 @ 2/60

1. Atrial flutter
2. AF
3. SVT unstable SBP <100 mmHg
4. SVT deteriorating rapidly
Abdo Valsalva manouvre precautions, Rx & Mx (3)
1. Reversion with ectopic activity for up to 30 s or longer. Rx with O2. excluding AF and atrial flutter
2. No reversion. Mx with SVT unstable SBP <100 mmHg. MICA to Rx with Adenosine. excluding AF and atrial flutter
3. No reversion with rapid deterioration. Mx for Altered conscious state and include AF or atrial flutter. MICA to Rx with synchronised cardioversion @ 75 J.
SVT signs and symptoms
1. Rate related chest pain
2. SOB with crackles
SVT rhythm
Essentially regular
SVT rate
160 - 240 bpm
SVT P wave
Present or absent. May be up-right or inverted depending on the origin.
SVT PR interval
0.12 - 0.20 if pacemaker is in the atria, or less than 0.12 if pace site is lower. May also occur after the QRS
SVT QRS complex
usually < 0.10
