Alcohol
Tremors, nausea/vomiting, malaise, weakness, tachycardia, sweating, elevated BP, anxiety, depressed mood, irritability, hallucinations, headache, insomnia, seizures, increased fever. Begins 4-6 hrs after last drink, may progress to delerium tremors, may use substitution therapy (ativan).
Amphetamines
Anxiety, depressed mood, irritability, craving for substance, fatigue, insomnia or hypersomnia, psychomotor agitation, paranoid and suicidal ideation, seizure, CRASH. Symptoms peak within 2-3 days, tricyclic antidepressants may be used, depression and irritabvility may persist for months.
Caffeine
Headache
Cannabis
Restlessness, irritability, insomnia, loss of appetite
Cocaine
Depression, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, insomnia, psychomotor aggitation, paranoid or suicidal ideation, apathy, social withdrawal. Large doses can result in convusions and death from cardiac arrhythmias or respiratory paralysis.
Inhalants
Intoxication occurs within 5 minutes. Symptoms last 60-90 minutes. Large dose can result in DEATH from CNS depression or cardiac arrhythmias.
Nicotine
Cravings for drug, irritability, anger, frustration, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, restlessness, decreased heart rate, increased appetite, weight gain, tremors, headache, insomnia.
Opiods
Cravings for drug, nausea/vomiting, muscle aches, lacrimation or rhinorrhea, pupillary dilation, piloerection or sweating, diarrhea, yawning, fever, insomnia, ABD PAIN.
Phencyclidine - PCPs
Delerium occurs within 24 hours, or may occur up to a week following recovery from an overdose. RECYCLES!
Sedatives, hypnotics, and anxiolytics
Nausea/vomiting, malaise, weakness, tachycardia, sweating, anxiety, irritability, orthstatic hypotension, tremor, insomnia, seizures.
