What are the goals for intervention?

Present addiction as a treatable disease, convery concern about safety, obtain agreement to assessment/treatment

Who can be on an intervention team?

2-3 individuals, including department chair/program director, pyschiatrist, recovering MDA/CRNA, spouse or close friend

4-8 weeks inpatient, 1-2 years after-care

|
Patient may return immediately following treatment, has acceptance of disease, family support, no dual dx

What is a Talbot Category II?
|
Possible return, possible relapse, dysfunction but improving family, no dual diagnosis

What is a Talbot Category III?
|
Redirected to another specialty, Prolonged IV use, prior tx and failure, entered anesthesia for access to drugs, dysfunctional family, dual dx

What is present in a reentry contract?
|
Abstinence from all drugs, drug screens, no meds except prescribed by PMD, oral naltrexone for 1-2 years, no narc, limited work schedule
