In a facility, the team leader(nurse) has overall responsibility and accountability for the clients care

Supervision in a community

In a community setting, your agency is accounatble for u and ur supervisor. The hired case manager and agency arranges the support and care for the client

Certain parts of canada only RNs can delegate, however in some, RPNs and LPNs can delegate.

A nurse delegating a task to u must:


- teach you the task


- assess your performance


- monitor your over time to ensure competance

The nurse should also provide written instructions on task, predicted outcome and what you need to record

Factors affecting delegation decisions

Nurse will consider the following:


- considering the clients condition, is it appropriate for a support worker


- will the support worker be performing the task frequently?


- will support worker be adequately supervised?


-will the nurse be available if needed


- inluded in their job description
