Chlamydia
- bacterial
- can be treated with antibiotics but damage is permanent
- anal, vaginal, oral sex

- 75% of people have no symptoms
- women: abnormal discharge, inflamed cervix
- men: discharge, painful urination
- left untreated in women: PID --> sterility

- no known cure, can stay in body for life

- men and women: genital warts, itching/bleeding/burning
- some of the viruses affect women at a small level and they don't know they have it --> cervical cancer

Herpes
- viral
- HSV-1: cold sores

- no known cure, can be treated, can stay in body for life

Pubic Lice

- parasite
- insects live in pubic hair, feed on blood
- intimate contact & infected bedding/clothing
- can only live 1-2 days without a body
- treated with medicinal shampoo
Hepatitis B
- attacks the liver, causes extreme illness and even death
- prevented with a vaccine
- intimate and sexual contact (bodily fluids: sperm, saliva, blood, urine)
- men/women: fatigue, headache, fever, vomiting
- men/women LATER: jaundice, dark urine
HIV
- human immunodeficiency VIRUS
- attacks immune system, linked with AIDS
- symptoms can appear after *ten years*
- medicines to manage it but no known cure
- blood, semen, vaginal fluids, breast milk
