Study on Stereotypes direct measure: Katz+Braly (1933) |
(Katz+Braly) Gave people 84 adjectives and told them to use words that apply to people in a certain ethnic group.
Results: Black people were seen as: 1. superstitious (84%) 2. lazy (75%) 3. ignorant (38%) |

(Katz+Braly) This study was repeated 2 more times to see if there were changes in stereotypes and there were and ppl checked off more positive traits.
Results: Musical (47%), Happy go lucky (27%) |

2. Non-Verbal behaviour measure study

(Study) Feldman+ Donohoe: White university student [(parti.) prejudice/ non-prejudice]. Student were required to give math test to grade 3 students (white/black). Grade 3 students were trained to do well and participant had to give child praise every time kid gets right answer. (This was videotaped) Had coder (blind to study) look at only the university students and assessed how they looked when the 3rd graders did well. Results: If ur no prejudice= non-verbal was positive to both If you are prejudice= negative non-verbal to black children/ positive to white |
