Why in a bar graph should the y-axis always start at 0?
Must start at 0 to be visually accurate. If not, you will accentuate the variance b/w groups.
Are the y-axes of bar and line graphs measured by frequency (count)?
No, y-axes are some sort of unit base.
What is the difference b/w histograms and bar graphs?
-Bar graphs can have gaps, unlike histograms to which they must be touching.
-Bar graphs must display error bars (ht=arithmic mean).
-Histograms display distribution curve.
When should you use and not use line graphs?
-Not use w/ categories for which cannot compare over time. (ex. GRE verbal v. GRE Quant)
-Use when comparing items over a period of time. (ex. Undergrad GPA v. DPT GPA).
What probability is +1s or -1s equal to?
34.13% (z-score=0.3413)
What probability is +2s or -2s equal to?
47.72% (z-score=0.4772)
34.13% + 13.59%
What probability is +3s or -3s equal to?
49.87% (z-score=0.4987)
34.13% + 13.59% + 2.14%
