Treatments
different values for a VARIABLE that will be assigned to the subjects by the experimenter
Control
-Two or more treatment options should be possible for the subjects in the experiment.
-A CONTROL GROUP where no TREATMENT is given is often one of the options.
Randomization
-must be RANDOMLY decided which treatment a subject is to receive in the experiment.
-The subject cannot have been the one to make this choice
Replication
-refers to idea of using many subjects.
-results from any one subject is hard to use to draw conclusions
-if a large sample is used, emerging patterns can lead to meaningful conclusions
Single Blind Experiments
-subject isnt aware of what treatment they are receiving
-in double blind experiments, this is also true.
Confounding Variables
If the variations in experimental outcomes can be realistically caused by more than one variable, then we say we have confounding variables
Response Variable
This variable might be affected by the variables we are controlling.
