Content validity
|
The extent to which a measurement represents all of the facets of the construct it's said to be measuring. So a depression scale that only measures affect would not have good content validity because there are other facets of depression that contribute to the term

Construct validity
|
Simply that a test measures what it sets out to measure.

Criterion validity = concrete validity
|
Does the test reflect a certain set of abilities?
For example, SAT™ scores are used to determine whether a student will be successful in college. |

Face validity
|
The extent to which the items on the test measure the construct
|

Convergent validity
|
Convergent validity consists of providing evidence that two tests that are believed to measure closely related skills or types of knowledge correlate strongly. That is to say, the two different tests end up ranking students similarly.

Internal validity
|
Looks at cause-and-effect. Ask yourself could there be something else causing this relationship?

Internal validity versus construct validity
|
Internal validity only shows that you have evidence to suggest that a program or study had some effect on the observations and results.
Construct validity determines whether the program measured the intended attribute. |
