Interphase
DNA Replication, cell growth, no pairing of chromosomes.
Prophase
Chromatin condenses into discrete chromosomes and begin to move to center of cell, centrioles move to opposite ends, nucleoli disappears, nuclear envelope breaks up. No pairing.
Metaphase
Duplicated chromosomes at metaphase plate, diploid number of duplicated chromosomes at plate.
Anaphase
Sister chromatids separate becoming daughter chromosomes.
Telophase
Daughter cells are diploid. The chromosomes reach the poles of their respective spindles. Nuclear envelope reform before the chromosomes uncoil.
