Why did the naval attack on the Dardanelles fail?
They failed due to large numbers of sea mines that they had not foreseen which caused three losses (HMS Ocean. HMS Irresistable. Bouvet) As well as this the navy that launched that attack were old obsolete models.
The trawlers send out to probe the sea mines retreated early as well due to turkish bombardment
Why was the invasion immediately destined to be a loss?
This was because the enemy already knew of the plans of the attack and had over 6 weeks to prepare for a land assault while the british forces were rallying in egypt. Another factor was that the invasion hinged on the idea that the enemy were caught unprepared
