Tecumseh

Tecumseh was a Native American leader of the Shawnee and a large tribal confederacy which opposed the United States during Tecumseh's War and became an ally of Britain in the War of 1812.



Failed, because he died at the Battle of the Thames.

Tripoli

The Barbary States demanded that the US pay a tribute. When the President Jefferson refused, Tripoli declared war on the US.

War Hawks

A group of Republicans, led by Henry Clay of Kentucky and John Calhoun of South Carolina, the War Hawks supported increases in military spending and were driven by hunger for land in Canada.

William Hull

He led the American army from Detroit to Canada, where they met Tecumseh. Fearing a massacre from the Native Americans, Hull surrendered Detroit to the British.

William Harrison

General William Harrison lead an unsuccessful effort, and decided that the Americans could make no headway as long as the British controlled Lake Erie.

Andrew Jackson

At the end of the war, Andrew Jackson and his troops were no match for the British, and at the Battle of New Orleans, Americans achieved a decisive victory. Andrew Jackson became a hero, which would help him win his presidency in 1828.

Hartford Convention

Unhappy Federalists gathered in December 1814 at the Hartford Convention in Connecticut. Some supported secession, others wanted to stay with the union. In the end, they made a list of proposed amendment to the Constitution.
