Have youever shot a gun? If so, have you ever tried trap shooting?

Today I amgoing to show you how to trap Shootproperly.

I have been shooting trap with my dad since I was10. I have now been on Harlan FFA’strapshooting team for 3 years. This previous year I placed 12th overallat state.

In order to hit as many targets as possible and get a high score, you must stand correctly, see the target quickly, and follow through.

The first step of trap shooting properly is to havea good stance and body position. Your stance is veryimportant when wanting to hit many targets because you are pointing and not aiming the shotgun.

You want to feel comfortable and be relaxed whenstepping up to your post. You must positionyour feet correctly.

You wantto stand in a boxer’s stance, which is having your lead leg (or opposite dominate leg) slightlybent. Yourrear leg must be straight.

It is also important to have a slight bend at the waist. a. This allows you to control the recoil b. This also allows you to easily rotate at the waist to track the clay bird (pigeon.)

Once you find a comfortable stance it will help you to see the target quickly.

The second step of trap shooting properly isbeing able to see the target quickly.

In orderto see the target quickly, you must have the gun positioned and ready.

Dependingon which post you are on determines where you aim before calling for the target.

Aim atthe trap house, but do not try to predict the direction the target will travel.

You must be able to keep both eyes open in order to find the target quickly.

Not only seeing and locating the target, but following through is also important.

The third step to trap shooting properly ismaking sure you refrain from taking your head offthe stock after the clay bird is shot and keep swinging the gun.

Aftertracking the bird, you have to keep your cheek on the stock.

If you look up too soon, to see the result of your shot, you could cause the gun to jerk and miss your target.

If you keep you cheek firmly on the stock, you will have consistent shooting.

It’s also important to keep swinging the gun.

If you stop swinging the gun, the shell stops moving and won’t reach the target, you’ll be behind it.

Even if you do hit it, only some of the BB’s might hit the target, you want to engage the targets with a lot of lead.

It is important to remember to do the same routine every time you shoot in order to be a good, consistent shooter.

In orderto trap shoot properly and hit as many targets as possible, you must standcorrectly, see the target quickly, and follow through.

Since I havebeen doing these things for a while now, these techniques come naturally to me.If you have ever been interested in it, I suggest trying it out, it’s a lot offun! I hope this hassparked your interest and now you want to try something new!
