”Leave me alone! I hate you!” Now I bet you’ve said something along those lines to your parents. I definitely have. In most cases you use one of these phrases and lots more when you don’t get your way or something that you want. Whether it’s a new top or just a lolly from the supermarket, anything can set you off when you’re a teenager.
1.
Don’t you just hate all of the people that get what they want like the latest technology and then they argue with each other when they don’t have the newest IPhone and you just sit there…. “I, I have an IPod...” and they just stare you like you’re from the 60’s. Well sorry for not being spoilt, but what’s the point in having the newest IPhone, they definitely do not stay new for long.
2.
Having friends that are spoilt sucks. They just don’t seem to realise that people work hard for their money, and then the spoilt kid’s waltz around like money grows on trees. Trust me it doesn’t but in their case it probably grows on their parents.
3.
Now I would get down on my knees and beg, but let’s face it I don’t want Mrs Saddler telling me off for having dirty knees or Mum telling me off for putting holes in my stockings. Anyway I’m begging you, do not become a spoilt child. It may seem like a good thing but when it comes down to the facts it’s not as good as you would of thought.
4.
There’s such a fine line between spoiling teenagers and giving them what they need. Let’s say you need a ride every night to a rehearsal or a job, owning a car would help you out a lot. Or if you need a laptop to do your homework or to help with your school work having a laptop would also help you out. But if you just want a car because your friends have one, or you want a laptop so you can pretend to do your homework but go on Facebook instead, you will be crossing that fine line. Grandparents are usually the number one suspects for crossing this line. This is fine but as long as they don’t spoil you too much.
5.
When you are spoilt you don’t learn the values of earning your own money. You might as well live off your parents. We all want to be rich right? Well to be rich in most cases you have to earn it. So that means that you either have to study hard or work hard. Now can you imagine handing in a work resume that has hardly anything on it because all of your life you have got your money from the money tree also known as your parents. They have brought you everything you have ever wanted so you’ve never had to work for a wages to buy something.
6.
If you were to work you would have all of these extra responsibilities that you take on and working would also help you gain more independence with your money. It would teach you about the value of money and spending it wisely because you have spent your own time earning the money. You also appreciate what you have brought more because you’ve brought it on your own. This would cause you to not always relay on your parents hand outs.
7.
As you can see being spoilt isn’t always as good as it may seem. It comes with its advantages but there are also disadvantages. In my option that disadvantages outweigh the good.
