Accent Rule #1
If a word ends in a vowel or the consonant N or S, then stress the next-to-last syllable.
Accent Rule #2
If a word ends in a consonant, with the exception of the consonants N or S, the it is stressed on the last syllable.
Accent Rule #3
The only time words do not follow this pattern is when they have a written accent mark, in which case the syllable with the accent mark receives the stress.
