How often do natural disastes occur in South America?
Every year about 4 floods occur and about every 10,000 years or so severe earthquakes occur. In the 20th century, the most disasters occured. The most highest number of events that occured in South America was wind-storms which had 305 evernts and killed 65,633 people.
What was the largest natural disaster of the 20th century and what continent
The continent was South America. The largest earthquake in the 20th century occurred in 1960 off the coast of Chile in South America. Numerous cities in Chile were damaged. The earthquake created a deadly tsunami which destroyed entire villages. The tsunami continued into the Pacific Ocean and killed 61 people in Hawaii and hundreds more in Japan.
