Protectionsim is a government policy that calls for some type of action, such as raising tariffs to protect a market from imports. The Canadian government wanted to protect Canadian businesses by letting Canadians buy more products made in Canada.

In the U.S., the people elect both the members of legislature and the president. In the U.S., the legislative and executive branches of government have separate leadership. In Canada, the prime minister leads both branches.
How are Canada's provinces different from its territories?
They govern themselves much like the provinces, but they do not have the same rights.
