Write a paragraph explaining 2 of the reasons nations sent out explorers in the 1400's and 1500's. Give 2 examples of countries that sponsored explorers.
|
There are two reasons why the nations sent out exployers in the 1400 and 1500's. The first reason is to explore new lands. The second was to find greater wealth. Two countries that sponsored the exlorers was Spain and Asia. The European merchants wanted to trade goods with Asia so they traveled the Silk Road. The Silk Road or Route was not a road but a group of overland trade routes between China and Italy. It was dangerous to travel this so the merchants traveled only part way to trade in cities in North Africa and Southwest Asia. The Europeans called this the "Middle East."
