Cell Membrane |
The cell membrane surronds the cell and is soft and flexible.
It controls the movement of materials, like water and waste, in and out of the cell. |
|
Cytoplasm |
Cytoplasm is the jelly like "soup" that fills most of the cell.
Other cell parts float in the cytoplasm. |
|
Nucleus |
The nucleus is the "brain" of the cell.
It controls what the cell does, and tells the parts what to do. |
|
Vacuoles |
The cell stores things like food and waste in the vacuoles. |
|
Mitochondria |
The "mighty" mitochondria is the "power house" of the cell.
It makes the power or energy that the cell needs. |
|
Cell Wall |
Only plant cells have cell walls.
The cell wall is an extra rigid (firm) outer covering for a plant cell.
It gives the cell a boxy shape. |
|
Chloroplasts |
The chloroplasts make the food for the plant cell.
Chlorophyll inside the chloroplasts capture the energy in sunlight to make the food, which is called glucose. |
