Most shoulder trauma can be evaluated how? |
AP Projection. |
What are the limitations with AP projection? |
HH overlaps glenoid which obscures joint space. Good for visualizing most shoulder traumas. |
What is the Grashey View? |
Pt is rotated 40 degrees toward side of suspect injury. Projection: Posterior Oblique Good for posterior dislocation. Anatomical - opens up joint space. |
What is the Axillary View? |
Superiorinferior view. Limitation: Difficult to obtain. Person is sitting with arm in abduction |
What is the west point view? |
Person lying prone. Radiographic tube angled 25 degrees to pts midline and 25 degrees to table's surface. Anterior - inferior rim of glenoid. |
What is the transthoracic lateral view? |
Pt will stand next to radiograph table. Opposite arm is abducted, central beam is directed below opposite axilla. |
What is bicipital view? |
Used to visualize trauma to bicipital groove, Pt stands and leans forward |
What is the likely cause of posterior shoulder dislocation? |
Combined Add, Flex, IR, -- Direct Force, Seizure/Electric Shock. |
What is post traumatic Osteolysis? |
Reabsorption of the distal acromial end of the clavical. Begins 2 mo after injury. |
If you had a scapular fracture what view would you want? |
Transcapular (Y) View |
What is a Hills Sach Lesion? |
A cortical depression in the posteriolateral head of the humerus. It results from a forceful impact of the humeral head against the anteriorinferior glenoid rim when the shoulder is dislocated anterior. |
How are Hill Sach Lesions best demonstrated? |
AP View (in internal rotation) and Transcapular (Y) view |
What are the radiographic characteristics of an AC separation? |
The image shows .3-.8 cm seperation of clavical and acromiom, and 1.0 - 1.3 cm btw clavical and coracoid process. |
WHat is the best view to determine the degree of displacement or look for bony fragments? |
Transthoracic view |
Why do you study so much? |
Cause I need to, and I am working hard to honor GOD. |
Best one for Bankhart? |
West point view |
