Deltoid-origin and insertion

Origin: lateral 1/3 of clavicle, acromion, spine of scapula



Insertion- deltoid tuberosity

Deltoid- action and nerve

Action: All fibers:abducts


Posterior: extension, laterally rotate, horizontally abducts the shoulder


Anterior: flexion, medially rotate, adduction

Action: unilaterally- elevate, downwardly rotate, laterally flex and rotate (ipsilaterally) head and neck
