Explain the multiplier effect |
When a basic industry opens in a city it brings in new money. The multiplier effect is for every basic job created, 3 non basic jobs are created. This forms a 3:1 ratio meaning if ikea created 200 basic jobs there will be 600 non basic jobs. If the industry closed it would mean that about 800 people would lose their jobs and would have to search for new ones. |

Explain how land value affects land use |
The closer you are to the city the more expensive the land will be, the further away the cheaper. Due to this many people build outside of the cities boundaries in the suburbs, creating a problem because the buildings take up good farming land, decreasing the amount of places to farm. |
