array

1, 2, 4 are commonfactors of 4 and 8 

common multiple

a number that is a multiple of two or more numbers...

a fraction in which the numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator which means it = 1 or more


lowest terms

a fraction is in lowest terms if the greatest common factor of the numerator and the denominator is 1


mixed number

a number wrriten as a whole number and a fraction


numerator

the number above the fraction bar which tells how many parts of the whole are being used


odd number

a number when divided by 2 will have a remainder.... it must end in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9

a whole object divided into parts and can be written as a decimal number or a fraction


place value chart

a chart showing the value of each digit in a number


prime

a whole number greater than 1 with only two factors... itself and 1


proper fraction

a fraction in which the numerator is less than the denominator and therefore equals less than 1


reduced form

a fraction in lowest terms or in which the numerator and denominator have the greatest common factor as 1


renaming

changing the name of a fraction to another fraction of the same value


simplest form

fraction in lowest terms, one that the numerator and denominator both have a greatest common denominator of 1


simplify

to reduce the numerator and denominator to the smallest numbers possible


tenths

a whole divided into 10 parts with each part being a tenth of the whole


thousandths

a whole divided into 1,000 parts with each part being a thousandth of the whole


variable

a letter, such as n, that stands for a number in an expression or equation
