When is a SEARCH WARRANT used?
To search and seize anything that might serve as evidence of a crime or could be used to commit a crime.

What is a SEARCH WARRANT?
A warrant is a document issued by a court that authorizes a peace officer or somebody else named in the document to go into a building, place or open a container.
What factors would make police decide to apply for a search warrant?
Police should have reasonable grounds to believe that there is in the building, place or container (receptacle) I wish to search, something that could be used as evidence of a crime or that is intended to be used to commit a crime.

PLACE in a warrant is described so that someone unassociated with the address could find it.
