The two openings in your nose where air enters.
nostrils
The space in which the air enters. It is here that dirt is filtered out and moisture and warmth is added.

Another name for these are scent molecules. These are what “smelly” things give off and are what we “smell”.
Odorant molecules
Tiny hairs in your nose that are the chemoreceptors. These receptors send messages to the brain so that you know what you are smelling.
olfactory hairs
This is the part of the brain that interprets the messages and tells you what you are smelling.

The liquid in your mouth that dissolves food and allows the flavor to be absorbed by the receptor cells.

Tiny structures in the papillae, containing gustatory receptor cells. These send signals about chemicals in food to the brain, which interprets them as tastes.
