Accuracy
A relative measure of the ability of an instrument to correctly measure the mass, or other characteristic, of object; it is also the correctness of the measurement
Balance
A device used to measure the gravitational mass of a body. The device consists of a lever arm that is balanced on a fulcrum, pivot. This lever arm usually has a. material pan on one end and some standard counterweights on the other end.
Buoyancy
The force that pushes an object up and makes it seem to lose weight while in a fluid.
Density
The amount of mass contained in a given volume of material.
Gravitational Force
The attractive force that exists between any two bodies that have mass
Hydrometer
A floating instrument that is used to determine the density of liquids
Kilogram
The basic unit of mass in the metric system; abbreviated kg. (One liter of water has a mass of 1-kilogram)
Mass
The amount of material in a object; expressed in grams
Matter
The material a thing is made of, having mass and occupying space
Precision
A measure of an instrument's ability to repeat a measurement and get the same result
Range
A measurement of the spread of a set of measurements. The range can be found by taking the difference of the largest measurement and the smallest measurement
Ratio
A fractional comparison of two numbers
Specific gravity
The ratio of the density of a material to to the density of water
Weight
The force due to gravity on mass
