Why is the Atmosphere Important?
|
In order to survive, all living things need the oxygen and other gases which make up the atmosphere. In addition to these, all living things need warmth and liquid water. The atmosphere fulfills these needs by trapping energy from the sun which keeps most of the Earth’s surface warm enough for water to exist as a liquid. The atmosphere also protects living things from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation and prevents most meteoroids from hitting the Earth. It all boils down to this …
No atmosphere, No life on Earth! |
