How is electricity like a river
|
The river presses against the banks and anything in its path; this is water pressure.
Voltage is the pressure of the electric field and is measured in Volts. The water flow in the river is called the water current. The flow of electrical energy is called the electric current and is measured in Amperes, which is Coulombs per Second. Resistance in a river is the opposition to the flow of current. The banks and the bottom of the river provide resistance, and anything in the water is an obstruction, like bridge columns. Electrical resistance is opposition to the flow of electrical energy. |
