CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
THE SYSTEMM THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSPORTING PRODUCTS TO THE CELL. CONSISTS OF THE HEART, ARTERIES, VEINS, CAPALLARIES AND BLOOD
BLOOD
THE FLUID THAT MOVES CONTINUOUSLY THROUGH THE BODY DELIVERING OXYGEN AND OTHER MATERIALS TO CELLS AND REMOVING CARBON DIOXIDE AND OTHER WASTES FROM CELLS
BLOOD VESSELS
TUBE-LIKE STRUCTURES SIMILIAR TO FLEXIBLE DRINKING STRAWS THAT BLOOD MOVES THROUGH
ARTERY
A TYPE OF BLOOD VESSEL THAT MOVES BLOOD AWAY FROM THE HEART. THE ARTERIES HAVE STRONG , THICK AND ELASTIC WALLS TO HANDLE THE TREMENDOUS FORCE OF THE BLOOD LEAVING THE HEART. THE ARTERIES CARRY OXYGEN RICH BLOOD
VEIN
A TYPE OF BLOOD VESSEL THAT CARRIES BLOOD BACK TO THE HEART. THE WALLS OF THE VEINS ARE THINNER THAN THE ARTERIES AND HAVE VALVES TO KEEP BLOOD FROM FLOWING BACKWARD. THE VEINS CARRY OXYGEN POOR BLOOD
CAPILLARIES
THE SMALLEST TYPE OF BLOOD VESSEL. THE ARTEIES AND VEINS BRANCH INTO SMALLER AND SMALLER BRANCES CALLED CAPILLARIES. IT IS IN THE CAPILLARIES THAT OXYGEN, CO2 AND NUTRIENTS ARE EXCHANGED WITH THE BODY CELLS
