What is matter?

Matter is anything that has both mass and volume, it is divided into 2 types: Pure substances and Mixtures.

What is a fluid and what does a fluid do?

A substance that has no fixed shape, for example a gas. A fluid takes the shape of there containor

What is a Homogenous mixture?

A homogenous mixture is a mixture that looks like it has one set of properties

What is a Heterogeneous mixture?

A heterogeneous mixture is when the properties of a mixture are not hidden.

So if there are 2 or more materials mixed in this mixture its called a heterogeneous mixture

What is a solution?

A solution is something that occurs because each particle slips between each other particle and is evenly distributed throughout the entire mixture.

What is a suspension?

A suspension is when the particles in a Heterogeneous mixture settle slowly after mixing.

What is a colloid?

A colloid is when the particles don't settle at all in a Heterogeneous mixture.

What is a pure substance?

A pure substance is a matter that has its own unique set of properties.

What is a mixture?

A mixture is a matter that contains 2 or more pure substances.

What is a solute?

A solute is a substance that dissolves in a solvent.

Why does dissolving occur

Dissolving occurs because of the attraction between particles

What is a mechanical mixture?

A mechanical mixture is a mixture that obviously has 2 or more substances in it.

What is a solution?

A solution is when a homogenous mixture does not have any settling of any substances it is made of.

What is a binder?

A binder keeps ingrediants/ materials together.

What is a solvent?

A solvent is a substance that dissolves the solute to form a solution.

What is solubility?

Solubility is the limit of concentration.

What is a saturated solution?

A saturated solution is something in which no more solute will dissolve in a specific amount of solvent.

What is a unsaturated solution?

A unsaturated solution is something in which more solute can be dissolved in a solvent.
