What is acceleration?
Acceleration is the rate of change in velocity.
What formula do you use to find the change in velocity?
You subtract the initial velocity from the final velocity.
Vf - Vi = Vav |
Is a space shuttle taking off from the earth in uniform motion? Why?
A space shuttle is not uniform because it speeds up after it is 30 km away from the earth's surface, therefore the motion is not uniform.
If a person is going up, or going right, or going North do they have a negative or a positive velocity?
They have a positive velocity.
What is non-uniform motion? Does a roller coaster ride have non-uniform motion?
Non-uniform motion is when the motion of an object is changing speed or direction. A roller coaster does not have uniform motion because it is going slower uphill and faster downhill.
When does negative happen with a car?
Negative acceleration happens when the car's speed
decreases (when the brakes are applied or when your foot is taken off the accelerator going up hill). |
What kind of graph could represent the motion of a roller coaster's velocity and acceleration?
A velocity-time graph.
How do you find the slope of a line on a graph?
You use rise / run or (rise over run). (divide run into rise). Rise is the numbers on the y axis and run are the numbers on the x axis.
