At least 1 month meets items "A" active-phase symptoms

May include periods of prodromal or residual symptoms

During prodromal or residual periods, signs may include only negative symptoms or at least two item "A" active phase symptoms
Positive symptoms
reflect an excess or distortion of normal functions
negative symptoms
reflect a loss of normal function
Schizophrenia subtypes
Paranoid Type, Disorganized T, Catonic T, Undifferentiated T, Residual T
Specifiers
jk
Describe the Diagnostic criteria for Schizophrenia Paranoid Type
A. Other or more prominent delusions or repeated auditory hallucinations

B. None of these is prominent:

Describe the Diagnostic Criteria for Schizophrenia, Undifferentiated Type
Item "A" symptoms are present

Not Paranoid, Disorganized, or Catonic Type
Describe the Diagnostic criteria for Schizophrenia, Residual Type
A. No prominent delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, or catatonic or grossly disorganized behavior

B. A continuing disturbance, indicated by either negative symptoms or at least two item "A" active-phase symptoms
Symptoms of Schizophreniform Disorder
A. Characteristic Symptoms
B. Schizoaffective & Mood Disorder Exclusion
C. Substance or General Medical Exclusion
D. An episode (including prodromal, active, and residual phases) lasts at least one month but less than six months
Specifier of Schizophreniform Disorder Without Good Prognostic Features or With Good Prognostic Features
1.onset of prominent psychotic symptoms within 4 weeksof the first noticeable change in usual bx of functioning.2. confusion or perplexity at the height of the psychotic episode. 3. good premoid social and occupational functioning 4. absence of blunted or flat affect
Describe the Diagnostic Criteria for Schizoaffective Disorder
A. Uninterrupted period of illness that concurrently includes:
1. Symptoms meeting Item "A" for Schizophrenia
and
2. Either a Major Depressive Episode, a Manic Episode, or a Mixed Episode
B. Delusions or hallucinations for at least 2 weeks with no prominent mood symptoms

C. Mood episode symptoms present for a large portion of the entire duration of the disorder's active and residual periods

D. Not caused by a substance or general medical condition
Schizoaffective Types
Bipolar: If the disturbance includes manic or mixed episode(or a Manic or Mixed Episode and Major Depressive E)
Depressive: IF the disturbance only includes Major Depressive
Delusional Disorder
A. Nonbizzare delusions lasting at leas 1 month

B. Item "A" for Schizophrenia never met

C. Functioning not impaired and behavior not odd or bizzare

D. If mood episodes occur concurrent w/ delusions, they have been brief relative to the delusional periods

E. Not caused by a substance or general medical condition
Delusional Subtypes

B. Duration of an episode of the disturbance is at least 1 day but less than 1 month with eventual full return to premorbid level of functioning
C. The disturb. isnt better accounted for by Mood Disorder with Psychotic Feat., Schizoaffective, or Schizophrenia and is not due to the direct physiological effects of a substance or GMC
Brief Psychotic Disorder Specifiers
With Marked Stressor
Without Marked Stressor
With Pospartum Onset
With Marked Stressor (Brief Psychotic Disorder)
If symptoms occur shortly after and apparently in response to events that singly or together would be markedly stressful to almost anyone in similar circumstances in the persons culture
Without Marked stressor (Brief Psychotic Disorder)
if psychotic symptoms do not occur shortly after or are not apparently in response to events that singly or together would be marked stressful to almost anyone in similar circumstances in the persons culture
With postpartum onset (Brief Psychotic Disorder)
If onset within 4 weeks postpartum
Shared Psychotic Disorder
A. Delusion developes in an individual in the the context of a close relationship with another person who has an already established delusion
B. The delusion is similar in content to that of the person who already has the established delusion
C. The disturbance is not better accounted for by another Psychotic Disorder or a Mood Disorder with Psychotic Features and is not due to the direct psychological effects of a substance or GMC
Psychotic Disorder Due to GMC
A. Prominent hallucination or delusions
B. There is evidence from the history, physical examination, or laboratory findings that the disturbance is the direct psychological consequences of a GMC
C. The disturbance is not better accounted for by another mental disorder

prominent hallucinations or delusions (Criterion A) that are judged to be due to the direct physiological effects of a substance (i.e., a drug of abuse, a medication, or toxin exposure) (Criterion B). Hallucinations that the individual realizes are substance induced are not included here and instead would be diagnosed as Substance Intoxication or Substance Withdrawal with the accompanying specifier With Perceptual Disturbances. The disturbance must not be better accounted for by a Psychotic Disorder that is not substance induced (Criterion C). The diagnosis is not made if the psychotic symptoms occur only during the course of a delirium (Criterion D).
Substance-Induced Psychotic Disorder should be diagnosed instead of substance intoxication or substance withdrawl when
when the psychotic symptoms are in excess of those usually associated with the intoxication or withdrawal syndrome and when the symptoms are sufficiently severe to warrant independent clinical attention.
Substance induced psychotic disorder specifers
With onset during intoxication
With onset during withdrawl
Psychotic Disorder NOS
