Setting
Is the time and place in which a narrative occurs. Details of setting often create atmosphere, the feeling created by a literary work or passage. Atmosphere contributes to the mood , the overall emotional quality of a work, which is created by the author’s language and tone and the subject matter.

Flashback

A sudden and vivid memory of an event in the past. It is also an interruption in the sequence of events in the plot of a story to relate events that occurred in the past.

Foreshadowing
Is the use of dues to hint at events that will occur later in the plot.

Hyperbole

An exaggeration that is used for emphasis. EX. The bus ride took forever.

Idiom

Words or phrases that cannot be taken literally. EX. He kicked the bucket, it’s raining cats and dogs.
Personification
Is giving an inanimate object person like quality. EX. The tree danced in the wind
Simile
Is a comparison using the words Like or As. EX. His legs are as long as a gazelle’s
Onomatopoeia
Is the use of word that sounds like its meaning.EX. Snap,crackle, pop
Metaphor
Is a comparison of 2 unlike things without using “like” or “as”. It says one thing IS another
Alliteration
Is the repeating of beginning letters or sounds

It is the attitude in the writing

Is the moral, lesson learned, and central idea.
