What is a stock transfer?
A removal of materials from a particular storage location and placement into another storage location.

A one step procedure gives you the advantage that you enter a single transaction in the system whereas with a two step transfer you can monitor stocks that you are in the process of transferring and enables a transfer for personnel with different authorization levels.

Stock in transfer.
Why should you not have any stocks in transfer at the time of inventory?
Because you cannot inventory such stocks.

In a single material document.
In the case of a two-step plant-to-plant procedure, what must you specify when removing the material from storage and why?
The receiving plant, the material, and the issuing organziational level. It is is necessary because valuation of the stock transfer takes place when the material is removed from storage.
What are the advantages of using a stock transport order over compared to a stock transport without a stock transport order?
1. It is integrated within MRP. (PR's generated by MRP can be converted to STO's)
2. The receipt can be planned at the receiving plant
3. Delivery costs and forwarder/carrier can be entered.
4. The GR can be posted directly to consumption.
5. GR into the warehouse, you can post material to stock in QI or blocked stock
6. GI and GR can be monitored via the PO history
