Foil
A character with qualities that are in sharp contrast to another character, thus emphasizing the qualities of each.
Dramatic Irony
The quality present when the audience knows something that the characters on stage do not.
Soliloquy
A longer speech that refers to the innermost thoughts and feelings of the character who speaks it- just as if the character were speaking to himself or herself.
Oxymoron
A pair of words that seem to contradict each other (pretty ugly, etc.)
Climax
The point in the plot where the emotional tension is at its highest and where we know how the conflict will end.

Usually of noble birth, has a downfall because of tragic flaw.
