Insomnia
|
Difficulty falling asleep. A person may have intermittent sleep or they may have early
awakening from sleep. |

Hypersomnia
|
This is excessive sleep during the day. A person naps but then may be disoriented with
slower thinking and speech. An example is sleep apnea. |

Narcolepsy
|
Uncontrollable desire to sleep. A person falls asleep quickly and they find it difficult to
wake up. When they do sleep, it is a restless sleep. It is dangerous to themself and others. |

Sleep Apnea
|
Can have absence of breathing or diminished breathing during sleep. The breathing may
cease 10-20 seconds or up to 2 minutes. The person may experiences an irregular pulse, increased blood pressure, oxygen saturations can drop |

Parasomnia
|
A waking behavior that appears during sleep

Somnambulism
|
Sleepwalking or sleeptalking. Usually when we try to awaken the person they will be
alarmed and it is known that they can also scream |
