Aside
short speech or line spoken by an actor to the audience but not intended for others on the stage
Pun
a play on words involve a single word or phrase that has two different meanings
Oxymoron
a figure of speech that puts together two opposing or contradictory ideas
Monologue
may be addressed to audience or another character.. like a soliloquy, but overheard
Dramatic irony
irony that occurs when the meaning of the situation is understood by the audience but not by the characters on the stage.
Prologue
a preface or intoductory part of a novel or poem
Sonnet
a poem that has 14 lines, 10 syllables with iambic pentameter
Couplet
a pair that rhyme and are the same length (i.e. ababcdcdefefgg) gg a couplet
Foreshadowing
hints or clues that tells what is going to happen
Soliloquy
a person who is talking to himself or herself alone expressing their thoughts
