Heavy industries are attracted with large power inputs. This creates jobs for locals and boosts the economy leading to cumulative causation. The high income boosts community development and facilities to sustain the population.

Nigeria - Issues with exploitation of energy


Major TNC's have taken over oil and gas which therefore leads to leakage rather than boosting of the local economy. There are also many old /poor refineries. Why is this an issue?

Old and poor refineries are not checked upon by the government and this allows for major corruption. (70% annually)

Nigeria has had an environmental disaster due to the exploitation of oil as lots of Nigeria
