what is balance?
is a sought after commodity in our culture. visual balance occurs when elements are distributed evenly or proportionately in space. the two basic types of balance are symmetrical and asymmetrical.
what is counterpoint?
used to anchor big/small or light/dark elements, using opposites to achieve balance.
what is rhythm?
a strong regular repeated pattern. graphic designers use it to have duration and sequence. pattern has unbroken repetition therefore when designing the designers are very punctuate with change and variation. (book)
how do rhythm and balance work together?
the repetition and change awaken visual form. the focal point will carry the viewers eye across the page. but some things dont have a focal point like patterns( repeating elements) .
what is symmetry and the 3 basic types ?
white space in a symmetrical design is passive.symmetrical desgin = passive ground.

1. bilateral- mirror and in the middle
2.rotaional
3.crystallographic - repeating pattern
what is motion?
a type of change and change happens in time. it can be implied or literal.

literal- elements can stay still while the environments around them change

implied- diagonal lines, cropped shapes
what is sequential time?
images in a row create a story like words.
how does animation use motion/movement?
uses a sequence of still images to create the illusion of movement(precipitance of vision). the key frames are the fixed states between movement. the speed of change indicate qualities of movement.
what is a storyboard?
summarizing the key movements of an animation's events. suggest flow and major changes of action
this can include:
character details, camera angles, soundtracks, movement, effects, timing, transitions...
kinetic means?
moving.
when transitions are done well..?
they should not be noticed.
