Occipiofrontalis
(epicranius)
Cover the top of the skull.
Consists of two parts, the occipitalis and frontalis.
Temporalis
A broad muscle arising in the temporal cavity and inserting in the mandible.
A muscle of mastication.
Masseter
A muscle arising from the zygomatic arch and inserting in the mandible.
A mucle of mastication. It closes the mandible.
Orbicularis oculi
The sphincter muscle surrounds the eyesocket. Closes the eyelid and compresses the lacrimal sac.

A pyramid-shaped muscle of facial expression. Draws the eyebrows inferiorly and medially, as in frowning.

draws the skin of the forehead inferiorly causing transverse annd vertical wrinkles in the forehed.

puckering muscle
closes the lips. compresses lips against teeth. shapes lips during speech.
Levator labii superioris alaeque nasi
raises the upper lip and dilates the nostrils.

Draws the upper lip superiorly and laterally

draws the upper lip posteriorly superiosrly and laterally as in smiling or laughing

Trumpeters muscle
compresses the cheek and it pulls anguli oris posteriorly. It produces the action of sucking.
Risorius
(flase smile muscle)
Draws corners of mouth posteriorly.
Depressor anguli oris
(Triangularis)
depressed the angle of the mouth.
Depressor labii inferioris
(quadratus)
depressed the lower lip inferiorly and slightly laterally
Mentalis
Elevates and protrudes the lower lip. It also wrinkles the skin over chin.
Pltysma
wrinkles the skin of the neck and chest. also depresses the head.
sternocleidomastoid
(SCM)
Rotates and depresses the head.
Digastric
draws the hyoid boine superiorly.
