- Hair and cilia trap dust and debris.
- Air is warmed and moistened.

Air goes to PHARYNX.
- Septum in nose separates 2 cavities.
- Nasal cavities connect to tear ducts and ears (EENT) via Eustachian Tubes

Air enters LARYNX.
- Triangular box with Adam's Apple at front cover
- Vocal Cords vibrate to make sound (sound depends on length, thickness, tension)

Air enters TRACHEA
- held open by cartilageous rings
- lined with ciliated mucous membrane (move up mucus and foreign particles)
- TRACHEOTOMY: incision in trachea below blockage

BRONCHI --> BRONCHIOLES --> ALVEOLI (lungs)
- alveolar sacs made of simple squamous epithelial tissue covered in capillaries
- lipoproteins prevent alveoli from collapsing when air leaves
