Thoracic inlet

Opening at cranial end of thoracic cavity

Thoracic cavity

The chamber of the human body (and other animal bodies) that is protected by the thoracic wall (rib cage and associated skin, muscle, and fascia).

Nasal cavity

Large air filled space above and behind the nose in the middle of the face.

Arytenoid cartilages

A pair of small three-sided pyramids which form part of the larynx, to which the vocal folds (vocal cords) are attached.

Pharynx

Serves both respiratory and digestive functions.

Back of throat.

Larynx

An air passage to the lungs and holding the vocal cords in humans and other mammals; the voice box.

Trachea

Tube that connects the pharynx and larynx to the lungs, allowing the passage of air.

Primary bronchi

Passage of airway in the respiratory tract that conducts air into the lungs. There is a right bronchus and a left bronchus and these bronchi branch into smaller secondary and tertiary bronchi which branch into smaller tubes, known as bronchioles.

Attached under carotid arteries

Vagus nerves

Faschia

Connective tissue that lies over muscle

Cutaneous trunci

Muscles closely attached to the skin of the thorax/ab.

Internal abdominal oblique

Rectus abdominus

Transverse abdominus

Transverse abdominus

Located under the obliques, it is the deepest of the abdominal muscles and wraps around the spine for protection and stability

External abdominal obliques

Located on the side and front of the abdomen

Rectus abdominis

Located along the front of the abdomen, often referred to as a "six pack."

Internal abdominal obliques

Located under the external obliques, running in the opposite direction.
