Dependent Variable
The variable measured by the researcher.
Hypothesis
Hypothesis
A prediction or testable statement which we test to see if it is supported or rejected.
Null Hypothesis
States the independent variable will have no effect on the dependent variable( I.e. that there is no difference in the results of the groups tested)
Experimental Hypothesis
Predicts that the independent variable will affect the dependent variable.
Directional (one-tailed) hypothesis
Predicts the expected direction of the results ( I.e. states which condition will do better)
Non-directional (two-tailed) hypothesis
Just says there will be a difference, but which group will do best is not specified.
