Oral contraception – synthetic progestins, estrogen
-Estrogen and progestins inhibit LH/FSH – thus prevent estrogen surge

-No estrogen surge --> no LH surge --> no ovulation

-Progestins:
--Cause thickening of cervical mucus – limit access of sperm to uterus
--Inhibit endometrial proliferation – make endometrium less suitable for implantation of an embryo
