What type of articulator does the lab need?

what should you do if the patient likes the denture and they meet all requirements?
send trial denture back to the lab to make the denture.
what do we do if something is wrong?
we need to reset the teeth to have them in proper relationship. send to the lab.
what if the vertical dimension is too excessive?
we need to lower the plane. take a new CR record and send back to the lab for them to reset the teeth.
After the lab resets the teeth, can we deliver the denture at the next visit?
NO. the patient needs to come back for a second try-in to make sure that the corrections are right. DO NOT make the final denture until you and the patient are satisfied with the trial denture.
when is the posterior palatal seal made?
when everything looks good and it's about to be sent to the lab for the denture to be made.
what does the glandular area contain?
minor salivary gland, tendon of the tensor palatine muscle, muscle fibers from the uvula, muscle fibers for the levator palatine muscle.
is there movement anterior to the deflection point?
there is little movement but it may tend to tense a little due to the tendon of the tensor palatine muscle.
where is the area of deflection?
runs on the anterior part of the soft palate called the vibrating line.
what and where is the fovea palatine?
where ducts of salivary glands are located. can be in front of, on, or behind the vibrating line
what lies within the hamular notch?
the pterygomaxillary raphe lies within the hamular notch.
what is the zone that runs form the posterior edge of the palatine bone to the vibrating line?
called the posterior palatal seal region.
how do you locate the posterior palatal seal region?
locate hamular notches (posteror to the posterior tuberosity region), mark the hamular notches, have patient say ahhh repeatedly, look for up and down deflections of vibrating line, mark the vibration line with disposable marker
when do you find the vibrating line?
when you try in your custom trays so when you bead, box, and pour the vibrating line will be where the rope wax hits the impression.
what type of contact do we need for the posterior palatal seal?
there should be an intimate contact.
What are the requirements for the posterior palatal seal?
Smooth
1.5 at vibrating line
1.0 in center
Feather-edge at the anterior edge
0.5mm at the hamular notches

Please seal down the case
Seal trial denture to master cast
Invest and process dentures
Equilibrate the occlusion for processing errors
Make a remount index
Finish and polish dentures for delivery
