Later in 1967 he created his own company called "Polo" He began to sell his neckties to large department stores, including Bloomingdales |

In 1970 Ralph Lauren was awarded the COTY award for his menswear line
He soon released a line of women's suits tailored in the previously classic mens style |

The classic polo, still seen and sold today was first released in 1972 in 24 different colors
This look was known as Polo's signature look He also opened new brands including Ralph Lauren Polo, a luxury clothing line, Ralph Lauren Home furniture, and also a variety of fragrances |
