Where does radioactivity come from and what is released?

Unstable nucleus

Release alpha beta or gamma

What is alpha radiation?

Is a Helium nucleus with mass of 4 and a charge of 2+

What is Beta radiation?

A beta particle is a fast moving electron, it has no mass and a charge of -1

When happens when Alpha is emmited?

The elements mass decreases by 4 (loss of 2 protons+2neutrons) and atomic number decreases by 2 (loss of 2 protons)

A new element is formed due to the loss of protons

What happens when beta radiation is emitted?

An elements mass doesn't change as it loses a neutron but gains a proton

Gains one proton and forms a new element
