Many of the English lords did not want William to be king. How could he trust these lords to keep their men under control?

William sent soldiers to kill all the people in the north who had rebelled against him. To punish them he destroyed villages and farms across a wide area around York and killed all the animals. This plunged the area into famine.
What was the domesday book?
The domesday book was the first ever survey taken in England by William the conqueror because he needed to know how much to tax people
