Identify the role and responsibilities of the Secretary of the Air Force (SECAF) and the Secretariat (SOB1.1)
SECAF is the civilian head of the AF, reports directly to the SecDef, conducts all affairs of the Dept of the AF including training, ops, admin, logistical support and maintenance, and welfare of personnel, research and development.

The Secretariat is made up of civilians who work for the SECAF to manage the different functions in the Air Force that the SECAF is responsible for.
Identify the role and responsibilities of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF) and the Air Staff (SOB1.2)
Chief of Staff of the AF (CSAF) is the Uniformed head of the AF and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Armed Forces Policy Council, he is also the principal adviser to the SECAF on AF activities, and responsible for efficiency and day-to-day preparation of its forces for military ops; responsible for organizing, training, equipping, and sustaining the AF.

Air Staff are the Vice Chiefs of Staff responsible for certain functional areas of the AF.
Outline the function of the Major Commands (MAJCOM's) in the USAF (SOB2.1)
All MAJCOM's in the AF are responsible for organizing, training, equipping and sustaining their respective forces.
Air Combat Command- Provides the warfighters and equipment
United States AF's Europe- Responsible for maintaining a force in Europe
Pacific Air Forces- Responsible for maintaining a force in the Pacific area of responsibility.
Air Mobility Command- Control airlift and air refueling.
Air Force Special Ops Command- Maintain AF Spec Ops forces
Air Force Space Command- Responsible for the weather, comm, intel, navigation, and ballistic missile attack warning, as well as space launch and ICBM force.
Air Education and Training Command- Military Education
Air Force Material Command- Research,development, and testing
Air Force Reserve Command- Responsible for Reserve Forces
Air Force Global Strike Command- Will take on AF nuclear mission
Describe the structure of a typical MAJCOM (SOB2.2)
MAJCOM's are major subdivisions of the AF, directly subordinate to Headquarters, USAF, and are the mechanism the AF uses to organize, train, equip, and sustain the AF.
Outline the function of the Numbered Air Force (NAF) (SOB2.3)
Level of command directly under a MAJCOM and are the warfighting echelons that provide ops leadership and supervision and are considered the SENIOR WARFIGHTING ECHELON.
Identify the structure of the NAF (SOB2.4)
They are not management headquaters and do not have complete functional staffs. Most NAF's have Air Ops Groups and Air Intelligence Groups assigned under them as DRU's.
Define the Air & Space Expeditionary Task Force (AETF)
How the AF forces are presented to the JFC to accomplish the mission.
